Another resource/designer I looked into when relocating home was the de Young Museum designed by Herzog and de Meuron. The museum building was built to act as a part if the museum experience as much as the artworks themselves with the outdoor space being well thought out so it can be experienced throughout the year. The building acts on creating a link between the internal space and the external surrounding space through links to the history of the space (using elements of the original museum that still remained). Using this idea of connecting two spaces through a built structure, from the internal atmosphere and how this links to the space that surrounds it brought up an idea of how i could reconstruct this idea of two different homes. By taking this idea of a “museum space” and how this internal space is used to highlight works of art, to highlight a space, to make something the centre of attention. Taking this idea I was really interested in creating a structure that could contain the comforts and the images of one space (for example city home) and then (like the de Young museum) using peep holes and open spaces in the structure allow the inhabitant to create a connection between the internal space and the external space (the country home). Creating a gallery like exhibit that can be installed in each space so the viewer can interact with it and experience both spaces simultaneously.
